Infineum establishes
first wholly owned
enterprise in China

Infineum, one of theworld
leaders in the formulation, manufacture
andmarketing of petroleum additives
for fuels and lubricants, announced the
establishment of its first wholly owned
enterprise in China, Infineum (Shanghai)
Additives Co. Ltd.
The new entity will be located in
Infineum’s China Business and Technol-
ogy Center at Jinqiao Economic and
Technology Development Zone, Pudong,
Shanghai, hosting colleagues from Sales &
Marketing, Technology and all supporting
functions.
“Since the establishment of Infineum
in 1999, China has always been a sub-
stantial part of our global development
strategy,”said Fu Limin, InfineumChina
managing director.
Trevor Russell, executive vice president
of Infineum International, added:“The
potential of the China additives market
and the speed of its future development
continue to be strong. Infineum is deter-
mined to support its customers as this
growth takes place and the forming of this
entity is a significant milestone.”

Lubrizol opens Zhuhai
additives plant
路博润珠海添加剂厂开业
Wickliffe, Ohio-based Lubrizol
Corp. announced the opening of a world-
class additives manufacturing facility in
Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, in August.
It is the cornerstone of Lubrizol’s 10-year
phased investment plan, launched in 2010,
to upgrade operations and increase global
capacity in additives.
“The business climate in Asia is an
exciting one, particularly when it comes to
the rapidly expanding automotive industry,
where the demand for advanced fuels and
lubricants has never been stronger,”said
James L. Hambrick, chairman, president
and CEO of Lubrizol Corp.
The plant will offer select additive com-
ponent manufacturing as well as additive
package blending. Over the coming years,
additional capabilities and capacity will be
phased in to meet market demand.
“By phasing in select capacity additions
in China, we aim to respond to lubricant
growth in Asia and to better match our
manufacturing footprint with global de-
mand patterns,”said Dan Sheets, president,
Lubrizol Additives.
The site also includes a Zhuhai
research, development and testing lab to
support Lubrizol’s engine oils, driveline,
industrial and fuel additive businesses.

Evonik Industries has announ­
ced a significant expansion of its Jurong
Island, Singapore oil additives plant, to be
completed in early 2015. With ongoing
improvement and debottlenecking proj-
ects scheduled to be finalized during the
first half of 2014, these optimizations and
the planned expansion will nearly double
the capacity of the oil additives plant in
Singapore.
“As a market and technology leader
in high-performance additives, we’re
strengthening our position in Asia. Our
expansion strategy supports the growth
of our customers directly from a modern,
efficient local production center, with
logistics that make a contribution to
resource efficiency at the same time,”says
Thomas Haeberle, executive board mem-
ber of Evonik with responsibility for the
company’s Resource Efficiency segment.
From 2015, the plant in Singapore will
be the largest of six oil additive production
sites owned by Evonik.
“Then and now, our goal is to supply
our customers with innovative products
and technical expertise. Evonik stands for
quick and on-time delivery, high quality
and flexibility,”said Ulrich Küsthardt, head
of the Coatings & Additives Business
Unit.

Germany’s Fuchs Petrolub
SE opened a new modern lubricants
blending plant in Russia’s Kaluga
region in September. Located in the
Rosva Industrial Park, next to LLC
PCMA Rus, a joint venture between
PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi,
construction of the plant took two
years.
Investment in the plant was no
more than EUR 15 million (USD20.2
million) for phase one, said Fuchs
Petrolub Chairman Stefan Fuchs. “We
have room to expand production if
our business grows in Russia,”he said.
“The plant envisages produc-
tion of 40,000 tons of lubricants and
related materials per year,”said Nikolai
Kuznetsov, general director of the com-
pany’s 100% subsidiary Fuchs Oil Russia.
In the initial phase, the Kaluga plant will
produce 30 products, he added.
