world-celebrated
golfing legend, Gary
Player.
The Census of India estimates
that 55% of persons with a dis-
ability are not literate.
As part of its activity, BCT’s
outreach extends to communities
as well as institutions. It has oper-
ated in the villages of Visakhapat-
nam district, Andhra Pradesh
since 1976. BCT believes in a
participatory approach. Through
its integrated rural development
programs, it has nurtured change
agents within villages and has cre-
ated model programs that have set
standards.
