SAIC Motor aims to sell 3 million vehicles

Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC) is aiming to sell over 3 million vehicles in China next year, reports SinoCast Transportation Beat. The automaker said that the impending launch of self-developed vehicles by each of its local joint ventures (JVs) with General Motors (GM) and Volkswagen (VW) would help to boost sales volumes significantly during 2010. Ding Lei, general manager of Shanghai GM, the passenger car JV of GM and SAIC, recently said that the company expects to sell 850,000 vehicles next year, an increase of about 20% year-on-year on its 2009 sales target of 700,000 units.
