Unipetrol consolidates business in Slovakia

Unipetrol Group, the Czech subsidiary of PKN Orlen, has decided to consolidate its business in Slovakia by merging UNIPETROL SLOVENSKO s.r.o. with MOGUL SLOVAKIA, s.r.o. The merger will be effective Jan. 1, 2016.

MOGUL SLOVAKIA s.r.o. was established in 1997 and distributes a wide range of oils and lubricants. UNIPETROL SLOVENSKO s.r.o. is a fuel wholesale fuel distributor and is the largest fuel importer on the Slovak market.

The successor company will be UNIPETROL SLOVENSKO s.r.o., which will be in charge of both wholesale fuel distribution and sale of lubricant brands MOGUL and PARAMO in the Slovak market.

The change will lead to more efficient coordination of corporate activities and should contribute to strengthening the company´s position in the important export market, the company said.

“Unipetrol has been one of the largest wholesale fuel distributors on the Slovak market in the long term. Last year, the company Unipetrol Slovensko reached revenues in the amount of EUR 621 million (USD 658 million) and ranked among the 50 biggest companies in Slovakia. The merger with the company Mogul Slovakia will strengthen the brand Unipetrol on the local market and will help to further development of our business activities,” said Marek Świtajewski, chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Unipetrol.

The merger is an element of the consolidation of Unipetrol’s business. The company has recently announced the merger of Unipetrol RPA with Polymer Institute Brno and Benzina. The latter is the operator of 339 petrol stations in the Czech Republic.

In 2005, Unipetrol became part of the PKN ORLEN Group, the largest processor of crude oil in Central Europe. In the Czech Republic, the group is one of the most important companies with regards to turnover and employs approximately 3,900 people.
