TPC Group expands di-isobutylene capacity to meet global demand
TPC Group has further expanded its capacity to produce di-isobutylene (DIB), a key product in the company’s Specialty Products division, to meet the rising global demand. The company implemented efficiency improvements and infrastructure upgrades at its integrated production facility in Houston, Texas, U.S.A., increasing DIB capacity by 27% since 2023.
DIB plays a crucial role in manufacturing low global warming potential refrigerants, as mandated by the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. It is also used in applications like phenolic resins for tire production, antioxidants for plastics, and high-performance chemicals for personal care, adhesives, and lubricants.
“TPC is committed to ensuring a steady supply of DIB while maintaining a focus on safety and environmental responsibility,” said Randall Redd, vice president of Specialty Products at TPC Group. The company’s expansion also includes enhanced capabilities for loading iso containers for export, enabling TPC to deliver DIB to customers worldwide.
