TPC Group expands crude C4 processing capacity by 25%
TPC Group has successfully completed the latest phase of its capital expansion programme at its Houston, Texas, operations in the United States, boosting crude C4 processing capacity by 25% compared to previous peak production levels. The multi-year initiative focused on risk mitigation, infrastructure upgrades, and operational enhancements to support the growing ethylene and butadiene markets.
Key achievements include a 20% increase in maximum sustained daily butadiene production rates, raising annual nameplate capacity to 1.1 billion pounds at the Houston site. The expanded hydrotreating processing capacity and long-term tolling arrangements further bolster TPC Group’s ability to process increased crude C4 supplies from both new and expanded ethylene crackers.
Ed Dineen, president and CEO of TPC Group, emphasised the company’s commitment to the butadiene market. “The company’s expanded processing capacity and extensive logistics network across the Gulf Coast further enhances the value of our operations and our capabilities for processing the increasing crude C4 supply from both new and expanded ethylene crackers. We will continue to grow our capacity to better meet the needs of the industry.”
TPC Group’s expansion demonstrates its commitment to supporting key industries, including synthetic rubber, fuels, lubricant additives, and plastics, while maintaining its 80-year legacy of reliable petrochemical production.
