Topsoe appoints Hedegaard as EVP of Power-to-X
Haldor Topsoe, a global leader in developing solutions for a decarbonized world, supplying technology, catalysts, and services, has appointed Kim Saaby Hedegaard as new executive vice president, Power-to-X. Hedegaard has served as interim head of Power-to-X since May 2022. Before that, he held the position of chief operations officer (COO).
In May, Topsoe announced its intention to construct the world’s largest and most advanced industrial scale electrolyzer production plant. Topsoe’s ambition is to rapidly accelerate the adoption of green solutions in particular within Power-to-X. The new electrolyzer production plant, which will be constructed in Herning, Denmark, will be operational by 2024 and have an annual capacity of 500 megawatts (MW) with scalability up to 5 gigawatts (GW), making it one of the first industrial scale plants of its kind. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year, subject to Board and other regulatory approvals.
Hedegaard joined Topsoe in 1999 and has since held various leadership positions within engineering, technology, and sales. Since 2017, he has been globally responsible for Catalyst Production and Technology. He holds a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Technical University of Denmark.
Further, Haldor Topsoe announced the appointment of Andreas Bruun Jørgensen as COO, who until today served as interim COO.
Jørgensen has held various leadership positions at Topsoe since he joined the company in 2010. Before that he worked as a process engineer at FL Smidt. He holds a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Technical University of Denmark.
“We are dedicated to taking the lead on the energy transition, and our Power-to-X business is an important driver in doing so. I am very pleased that Kim has accepted the position as EVP. He has already done an outstanding job in shaping the Power-to-X organization, and he holds the right mindset to drive our global leadership position and to unleash the enormous potential in this field,” says Roeland Baan, CEO, Topsoe.
“It is also a pleasure to welcome Andreas to our senior leadership team. He has done a tremendous job in leading our Global Supply organization and safeguard, that we are able to deliver on all fronts to our customers even with the current distressed environment in the global markets. The appointments of Kim and Andreas, who have both been working at Topsoe for several years, bear evidence to our succession planning and our very capable inhouse profiles.”
