Texaco Lubricants launches new e-fluids range for EVs

Texaco Lubricants, a member of the Chevron family of brands, has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of a new range of electric fluids (e-fluids) designed to support the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market. This initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to reducing the carbon intensity of its operations and promoting lower carbon businesses.

In a move to enhance the sustainability of its products, Texaco Lubricants plans to incorporate renewable base oils into its e-fluids range. This strategic decision aims to reduce the lifecycle carbon intensity of the company’s offerings, contributing to a more sustainable future in the automotive industry.

Recognising the diverse needs of the market, Texaco is also developing an e-fluids range specifically for commercial vehicles. This includes formulating heavy-duty diesel e-fluids to meet the unique technical requirements of the sector. The company’s focus extends to both automotive and industrial applications, with plans to develop a low conductive coolant and a bespoke e-grease portfolio.

The new e-fluids will be integrated into vehicles directly at manufacturers’ factories. However, aftermarket specifications for the Texaco Lubricants e-fluids range will not be available, indicating a focus on OEM partnerships.

Texaco’s venture into e-fluids is driven by multiple factors, including technological advancements and legislative changes. Notably, upcoming bans on the sale of new petrol, diesel, and in some cases, hybrid vehicles across Europe have accelerated the shift towards electric mobility.

Paul van de Ven, Chevron regional product line manager, emphasised the significance of the electric vehicle market’s evolution and the electrification of mobile equipment. “Chevron is leveraging its strengths and building on its capabilities to help drive progress at the speed and scale necessary to meet the world’s goals. The Texaco range of e-fluids will help our customers achieve their own emissions reduction goals and implement e-mobility solutions,” said van de Ven.
