SkyNRG appoints Maarten van Dijk as CEO to advance SAF leadership

SkyNRG has announced the appointment of Maarten van Dijk as its new chief executive officer, effective December 16, 2024. A co-founder of the company in 2009 and previously its chief development officer, van Dijk brings extensive expertise in the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) sector. His leadership will guide SkyNRG’s next phase, including the progression of its flagship DSL-01 project, set to reach a final investment decision in 2025.

Van Dijk succeeds Philippe Lacamp, who has been instrumental in SkyNRG’s growth from a start-up to a leading SAF solutions provider. During his tenure, Lacamp oversaw significant milestones, including securing Macquarie Asset Management as SkyNRG’s largest investor. Lacamp will remain involved in supporting the leadership transition.

“The Board of SkyNRG is excited to appoint Maarten as CEO to lead the next phase of the growth journey for SkyNRG. Maarten is widely regarded as a visionary within the global SAF sector and, together with Theye Veen, has been instrumental in building SkyNRG’s leadership position in decarbonizing aviation. We thank Philippe for his significant contributions to SkyNRG’s growth over the past three years, and we wish him luck in his future endeavors,” said Kate Vidgen, chair of SkyNRG and executive director at Macquarie Asset Management.

Van Dijk’s appointment is part of a broader leadership evolution, following the recent addition of Noud Tillemans as chief financial officer and plans to name a chief operating officer. As CEO, van Dijk will spearhead the company’s strategy to expand SAF production facilities by 2030, ensuring robust support for its global decarbonisation goals.
