SK Enmove expands global reach with certified refrigeration oil
SK Enmove has solidified its position in the global market by obtaining certification for its next-generation refrigeration oils, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and efficiency in cooling technology.
The company’s advanced refrigeration oils are now certified for use with eco-friendly refrigerants, aligning with global efforts to reduce environmental impact. The company announced on 10 February (KST) that two of its proprietary refrigerants had received the prestigious R-Number certification from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), a globally recognised authority in the field.
The R-Number certification is granted by ASHRAE following a rigorous assessment of a refrigerant’s material properties, including safety, efficiency, and overall performance. This latest recognition increases SK Enmove’s total number of certified refrigerants to three, following a similar achievement in June last year. All three refrigerants were developed as part of a strategic partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, launched in January 2024, to create next-generation refrigerants capable of enhancing heating and cooling performance by more than 30%.
“This milestone reflects over a decade of expertise in thermal management research and development, including breakthroughs in lubricants for electric vehicles (EV Fluids) and immersion cooling fluids (Thermal Fluids). By rapidly advancing our refrigerant technologies, we have earned the prestigious R-Number certification,” said Kim Wone-kee, CEO of SK Enmove.
