Shell expands U.S. retail sites with 45-location New Mexico acquisition
Shell announced an agreement to acquire 45 retail and fleet fueling locations across New Mexico from Brewer Oil Company (BOC).
Employing around 12,000 people, Shell provides energy across 50 U.S. states and operates nearly 14,000 total U.S. retail sites.
The deal expands Shell’s owned U.S. footprint as it targets paced retail growth opportunities. BOC’s customer base and site locations offer immediate value, said Shell Mobility EVP István Kapitány.
Subject to approvals, the transaction should complete by the end of the first quarter of 2024. Shell will retain BOC’s 450 employees to anchor its new retail presence in New Mexico.
BOC has been a Shell fuel wholesaler in the state since the 1970s. The acquisition marks Shell’s first owned retail sites in New Mexico, adding to its 200+ convenience stores nationwide.
Globally, Shell serves around 32 million mobility customers daily across quality fuels, EV charging, convenience retail and more. The company continues enhancing its customer offerings in key growth markets like the United States.
