Shell Advance Ultra API SP debuts at MotoGP Thailand 2025

Shell Lubricants has introduced the upgraded Shell Advance Ultra with API SP, its most advanced full-synthetic motorcycle and scooter oil, at the 2025 MotoGP in Thailand. The new formulation, endorsed by Ducati Corse, delivers enhanced engine performance, fuel efficiency, and longevity.

Shell Advance Ultra retains horsepower for up to 20,000 km, providing faster acceleration and better fuel economy, with riders gaining up to 11.5 metres ahead in a 0-100 km/h sprint. It also offers 79% lower evaporation, extending engine life.

Beyond Advance Ultra, the API SP specification extends across the Shell Advance range, including Power, FuelSave, Long Ride, City, City Scooter, and FuelSave Scooter. Shell Advance is the first and only motorcycle and scooter oil made using PurePlus Technology, which produces 99.5% pure base oil from natural gas, free from crude oil impurities.

New ‘Ride On’ campaign and Ducati partnership

Coinciding with the launch, Shell unveiled its new global campaign, “It’s not just oil, it’s crazy good oil,” featuring Ducati Corse riders. This marks over 25 years of collaboration between Shell and Ducati, with Shell Advance Ultra serving as the factory fill oil for all Ducati motorcycles.

MotoGP remains a testing ground for Shell Advance innovations, offering valuable performance insights. Ducati’s record-breaking 2024 season, with 13 race wins and five consecutive Constructor Championships, underscores the role of Shell’s advanced lubricants in motorsports success.

Expanding global availability

Shell Advance Ultra with API SP meets the latest JASO MA2 and MB standards for motorcycles and scooters. Initially launched in China in December 2023, it will be rolled out globally in April 2025.
