Pilot Chemical names Michael Scott president

Pilot Chemical Company, a privately owned and independent global specialty chemical company, has appointed Michael Scott president, while Pam Butcher, current president and CEO, will remain as CEO while Scott becomes fully established in his new role.

Scott most recently served as the regional president for acrylics and the general manager for organic peroxides at Arkema, Inc. in Houston, Texas, where he was instrumental in the acquisition of Dow Chemical’s acrylic monomer business.

The announcement followed an extensive nationwide search conducted by Pilot’s senior leadership and board members.

“The board and I are excited to welcome Mike to the Pilot team,” said Paul Morrisroe, chairman of Pilot Chemical’s board of directors. “We are confident that his extensive experience in manufacturing and strategic planning will further accelerate Pilot’s growth and success in the future.”

During his tenure at Arkema, Scott held positions in manufacturing, commercial development, marketing and strategic planning. He also completed a multi-year assignment in France.

Scott began his career with M&T Chemicals, Inc. and holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University.

Scott will lead corporate operations from Pilot Chemical’s headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A., and will oversee six locations and approximately 250 employees.

Pilot Chemical Company provides high quality products and services to the household and industrial detergent, personal care, lubricant, oilfield, emulsion polymerization, disinfecting and sanitizing industries. Proprietary core technologies involve alkylation, sulfonation, sulfation and a number of other specialty operations, including the production of biocidal quats and tertiary amine derivatives.
