PETRONAS launches fuel stations in Brazil with SIM Distribuidora

Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) has partnered with SIM Distribuidora to launch its first branded fuel stations in Brazil. This marks PETRONAS’ inaugural brand licensing venture, featuring three pilot fuel retail stations in strategic urban locations across Brazil. These stations will offer customers access to PETRONAS’ high-performance fuel solutions, including the renowned PETRONAS PrimaxTM fuel and PETRONAS SyntiumTM lubricants, leveraging technology and insights derived from Formula One.

PETRONAS Vice President of Refining, Trading, and Marketing, Ahmad Adly Alias, expressed excitement about bringing the company’s award-winning Fluid Technology SolutionsTM to Brazilian consumers. This initiative is part of PETRONAS’ strategy to expand its reach in global markets by licensing its brand and fuel formulations to independent fuel retailers who can capitalise on their operational expertise.

The pilot stations will provide Brazilian customers with a premium fueling experience, showcasing PETRONAS’ advanced solutions beyond lubricants. The collaboration with SIM Distribuidora, an existing partner since 2022 and an authorised distributor of PETRONAS lubricants, is expected to enhance the customer experience for everyday drivers in Brazil.

Strategic partnership

SIM Distribuidora, which operates 540 retail stations across southern Brazil, is well-positioned to introduce PETRONAS-branded services to a broader audience. Neco Argenta, president of Argenta Group, the holding company of SIM, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic partnership, anticipating it will offer new options for consumers and dealers.

This partnership model represents a significant step for PETRONAS as it seeks to enter new retail segments globally, allowing the company to leverage its Formula One expertise to capture a larger share of the Latin American market.
