Peter Lagerlöf named new CEO of AXEL Group

The Board of Directors at AXEL Christiernsson International AB has announced the appointment of Peter Lagerlöf as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the AXEL Group, effective immediately.

AXEL is one of the largest producers of private label greases in the world. Established in 1888, AXEL is headquartered in Nol, Sweden. AXEL operates six production plants across Europe and the United States, enabling efficient service and delivery to its international clients.

Lagerlöf brings a wealth of leadership experience, having previously served as CEO of Centriair, a company specialising in industrial odour treatment. His career also includes more than 15 years in global leadership roles at Emerson, where he worked in both Sweden and the United States. Lagerlöf holds a Master of Science in Engineering Physics from the Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Lagerlöf stated, “I am very excited to be part of AXEL Christiernsson and the Fairford Group where my past experiences will allow me to contribute to the continued success of the company. It is with humbleness that I am taking over as the new CEO after Johan Stureson’s long and successful tenure.”

The announcement comes as Stureson, who has served as AXEL Group’s CEO for nearly 25 years, prepares to retire later this year. Under his leadership, AXEL has transformed from a loss-making business with two European plants into a global leader in private-label grease production, operating six plants across Europe and the U.S.A.

Stureson’s contributions to AXEL’s robust financial performance, high customer satisfaction, and its status as a market leader have been widely recognised. Post-retirement, he will continue to serve as a senior advisor to the company and its shareholders.

The AXEL Group, part of the Fairford Group, remains committed to maintaining its reputation for excellence under Lagerlöf’s leadership.
