Pertamina launches new diesel fuel called Dexlite

PT Pertamina has launched a new diesel fuel called Dexlite, an in-between grade of diesel fuel in Pertamina’s diesel fuel offering, with a minimum cetane number of 51 and a maximum sulphur content of 1,200 parts per million (ppm).

Dexlite, which contains 20% Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME), is produced from Pertamina’s Balongan refinery. Based on its cetane number and sulphur content, the quality of Dexlite is below Dex but above Biosolar. Dex has a cetane number of 53 and a sulphur content of 300 ppm, while Biosolar has a cetane number of 48 and a sulphur content of 3,000 ppm.

During the market testing phase, Dexlite will be marketed in 33 areas in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi. Dexlite will be priced at IDR 6,750 (USD 0.50) per litre during the market trial phase. Dex is currently priced at IDR 8,400 (USD 0.63) per litre and Biosolar at IDR 5,150 (USD 0.38) per litre.
