Perstorp launches sustainable cooling fluid for data centres

Perstorp, a global leader in specialty chemicals and a subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), has announced the launch of Synmerse™ DC, a high-performance immersion cooling fluid designed for safe and reliable operations in data centres. With increasing demands on data centres due to technologies such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML), traditional cooling methods are no longer sufficient. This innovative product aims to address these challenges with a biodegradable synthetic fluid that offers enhanced cooling efficiency, reduced power consumption, and improved operational safety.

“Synmerse™ DC is a solution that not only meets today’s requirements but is also designed to address the future needs of cooling systems in data centres,” said Valentina Serra-Holm, vice president of Engineered Fluids at Perstorp.

Synmerse™ DC was developed in collaboration with leading processor and original design manufacturers to ensure compatibility with next-generation computing technologies. With features such as excellent thermal management and high heat transfer efficiency, Synmerse™ DC promises to reduce the overall power consumption needed for cooling in data centres. Furthermore, its extended fluid lifetime and low maintenance requirements translate to reduced downtime and improved efficiency.

As a PFAS-free alternative, Synmerse™ DC has zero ozone depletion potential and is made from readily biodegradable synthetic fluids, making it a sustainable option for companies looking to minimise their environmental footprint.

“We’re proud to introduce a product that not only ensures the safety and reliability of data centers but also aligns with our sustainability goals,” Serra-Holm emphasised.
