Air Liquide China promotes road safety knowledge among primary school students in Shandong Province

SHANGHAI, May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — On May 23, Air Liquide China volunteers visited Dongkai Experimental School in Dongying Economic & Technological Development Area, Shandong Province to host an activity promoting road safety for the students. The event marked the first time the company extended the program to a city outside Shanghai.

Situated in the Yellow River Delta, Dongying is a rapidly developing industrial hub where Air Liquide China now owns two large plants, each serving a key industrial customer.

In keeping with the company's global culture of safety as its top priority, Air Liquide China focused its CSR (corporate social responsibility) activity on road safety as a natural extension. Delivered through interesting experiments and interactive games, the lecture covers safety tips for crossing the street, waiting for the school bus, and bicycling.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), road traffic accidents were the leading cause of injuries among young people worldwide in 2016. However, most of those injuries could have been prevented, in part by educating young people regarding safety awareness.

Marcelo Fioranelli, Vice President of Air Liquide Greater China, said: "We're pleased to see that this lecture was well-received by all the students. We hope they keep the tips in mind and apply them in their daily lives. In line with our Group's vision of creating value over the long-term, we're seeking to bolster the well-being of the community, contributing to both the social and the economic development of the city."

Air Liquide is devoted to developing local economies, protecting life and the environment, and to contributing to communities. Under its Corporate Sustainability Program (CSP) called "Air Liquide Care", in addition to "Road Safety Lectures", Air Liquide China promotes other initiatives including its "Marathon First Responder Program", the "Green Action" annual tree-planting event, and the recycled computer donation program "Air Liquide Computer Classroom".
