LIQUI MOLY unveils high-performance hybrid engine oil
German lubricant specialist LIQUI MOLY has unveiled its latest high-performance engine oil, Top Tec 4120 0W-40, designed specifically to meet the demanding requirements of Mercedes-Benz hybrid vehicles. The low-friction formula offers optimal lubrication, reduced wear, and enhanced efficiency, particularly for engines with start-stop systems.
According to Oliver Kuhn, deputy head of LIQUI MOLY’s Oil Laboratory, hybrid vehicles often operate with cold combustion engines, requiring an oil that achieves optimal flow characteristics at lower temperatures.
“The combustion engine of hybrid vehicles often runs when cold, so that the oil does not reach high temperatures. This can lead to problems due to moisture ingress through condensation. Accordingly, the oil offers optimum flow characteristics at an oil temperature of around 50 to 70 degrees Celsius and counteracts the problems caused by water and fuel ingress,” explains Kuhn.
The Top Tec 4120 0W-40 formulation addresses these challenges, ensuring consistent lubrication across varied driving conditions, while meeting Mercedes-Benz MB 229.52 approval standards. This high-tech synthetic oil minimises friction losses, promotes fuel economy, and prevents deposit formation, making it ideal for modern hybrid powertrains.
In addition to Mercedes-Benz, the oil is suitable for many Asian hybrid models requiring ACEA C4 or API SP approvals. It delivers performance advantages in lubrication reliability, enhancing engine longevity and durability.
