Li Auto and Sinopec partner to expand EV charging network in China
On October 12, 2024, Li Auto and Sinopec officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to collaborate on expanding the electric vehicle (EV) charging network across China. The partnership will focus on constructing co-branded supercharging stations, integrating platforms, and offering maintenance card benefits to improve the charging experience for Li Auto customers.
Sun Guangmin, vice president of Li Auto, said, “This partnership represents another milestone for Li Auto as we work with comprehensive energy service providers to enhance the charging experience.” He added that Sinopec’s extensive energy station network would enable both extended-range and fully electric Li Auto vehicles to recharge easily and travel without concerns.
100 co-branded supercharging stations by 2024
The collaboration is already making progress. The first joint supercharging station was launched on July 1, 2024, at the Hechuan Service Area in Chongqing, featuring 5C ultra-fast charging terminals with a maximum power of 520kW. By the end of 2024, the partnership aims to build 100 co-branded supercharging stations across key economic regions in China.
As of October 1, 2024, Li Auto has established more than 900 supercharging stations, covering 64 cities and major expressways, making the brand’s charging infrastructure accessible to more users. Through the Li Auto app, customers can now locate and activate Sinopec’s charging stations across 29 provinces, making the charging experience seamless..
Sinopec’s nationwide charging expansion
Sinopec has already developed a vast network of more than 8,600 charging stations across China as part of its shift toward cleaner energy solutions. These stations are integrated into comprehensive service stations offering not only EV charging but also fuel services, car washes, retail options, and leisure activities.
The strategic partnership with Li Auto underscores the energy giant’s commitment to the energy transition and further enhances the company’s standing as a leading provider of energy solutions in China.
