KRAHN Chemie acquires stake in Italian specialty chemicals company

KRAHN Chemie, part of the Germany-based Otto Krahn Group, has acquired an ownership share of Italian specialty chemicals manufacturer and distributor SPECIALITIES S.r.l.

SPECIALITIES produces and distributes specialty surfactants and other chemicals for home care, personal care, industrial cleaning, and institutional cleaning applications across Europe. It holds exclusive Italian distribution rights for Nouryon surfactants and runs its own research laboratory to develop innovative cleaning product formulations.

In a statement, KRAHN CEO Dr. Rolf Kuropka called the investment a commitment to a “promising growth market” that complements the company’s existing activities. Together, SPECIALITIES’ application expertise and KRAHN’s established Italian access will allow providing customers with more comprehensive support, he said.

SPECIALITIES CEO Fabrizio Belli said the partnership offers networking and synergy opportunities to strategically expand both companies. Enrico Bozzi, managing director of KRAHN’s Italian office, and Belli have built years of collaborative trust that lays the foundation for increased coordination.

SPECIALITIES develops novel cleaning product formulations across categories like automatic dishwashing, laundry care, surface sanitizing, metal degreasing, probiotic cleaners, and odor elimination. Its application testing capabilities and specialty chemicals portfolio enable customized customer solutions.

KRAHN provides specialty chemicals distribution and services supporting growth opportunities in areas like construction, nutrition, pharma, and industrial markets. This includes personalized sample fulfillment, regulatory compliance assistance, and sustainability consulting.

The acquisition aligns with KRAHN’s focus on high-performance specialty chemicals for innovative applications, now expanded into the institutional and household cleaning realms through SPECIALITIES’ offerings. Blending both companies’ strengths will allow serving existing and new customers with expanded green chemical options meeting the most demanding cleaning product requirements.
