Zafco to open 84 trucking centers in India

Zafco announced that it will establish 84 trucking centers across Northern and Western India. The trucking centers will allow the company to enter the premium segment of the tire market in India, with a focus on the replacement market, said K. V. Gopiraj, CEO. He said the company is also looking to establish a manufacturing plant either in Thailand or in Indonesia, where natural rubber is produced, for passenger car tires. Zafco already has a joint venture in Thailand for truck tires which started commercial production last November. Founded in Dubai in 1993, Zafco is one of the world’s leading importers and exporters of car tires, batteries and lubricants. Its goal is to reach a turnover of US$1 billion by 2013, from US$400 million at present. (July 6,2011)
