Yulon to mass produce electric car

Taiwan’s top automaker Yulon Group intends to begin mass production of the Luxgen EV Plus by the end of 2010. The Luxgen EV Plus model takes 10 hours to fully charge on a standard 220-volt socket and can drive up to 300 kilometers on a single charge. The car will cost about NT$1 million (US$30,962), with the in-car battery costing another NT$1 million (US$30,962). The electric car has similar bodywork to the Luxgen multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and boasts a drive-system supplied by U.S.-based electric vehicle (EV) provider AC Propulsion.
