Yankuang Group to develop coal-to-oil

Yankuang Group Co., Ltd. raised the curtain on the 600,000-ton methanol and ammonia integration project in the northwestern Chinese city of Urumqi, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, kicking off its local coal chemical base construction. From 2006 to 2020, the coal-based company intends to complete the integrated coal development project in Xinjiang. After its large-scale coal-to-oil, coal-to-methanol, coal-to-olefin, acetic acid and dimethyl ether (DME) projects start operations, Yankuang Group will be capable of producing more than 20 million tons of coal, 800,000 tons of chemical fertilizer, as well as three to five million tons of oil from coal.
