Yangzi Petrochemical to expand capacity

The Yangzi Petrochemical Co., a subsidiary of Sinopec, will upgrade its current facilities and begin the construction of a new crude distillation unit (CDU) with a capacity of 8 million metric tons per year (MTPY). The upgrade of existing facilities includes the expansion of a 1 million MTPY hydrocracker. This upgrade is to be completed by 2013. The new construction and upgrade will allow the company to produce gasoline meeting China IV emission standards, which is equivalent to Euro IV. Diesel fuel produced by Yangzi will be able to meet China III emission standards. Sinopec has also indicated that the company will be scrapping a 3.5 million MTPY atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit. (May 24,2011)
