Yamaha to boost fuel efficiency of its motorcycles

Yamaha Motor Co. President Hiroyuki Yanagi pledged to keep improving the fuel efficiency of Yamaha motorcycles to meet the increasing environmental regulations in both Japan and emerging economies, while maintaining quality. With the rapid growth in the motorcycle market in Asia, Yamaha, which has a 46% market share in Indonesia, plans to build a new plant there. Yamaha’s motorcycle sales in the country rose 27% in 2010 to 3.26 million units, about 27% higher than a year ago. (March 1,2011)
