Yamaha India to launch gearless scooters

Two-wheeler manufacturer India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. is planning to launch gearless scooters in India in 2009. Sanjay Tripathi, division head (product planning & marketing), said the scooters come with automatic transmission and would be as powerful as its motorcycles. The parent company, Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd., Japan, which is the world’s largest gearless scooter maker with a wide range of scooters starting from 50 cubic centimeters (cc) to 500 cc, is undertaking feasibility studies for introducing its gearless scooters in India.
