Yamaha India appoints new CEO
Yamaha Motor, the world’s second-largest motorcycle maker, has appointed another CEO for its loss-making India operations, in the hope of improving the company’s performance. Yukimine Tsuji, Yamaha India’s manufacturing head, will take over the reins from Tsutomu Mabuchi, who has been assigned to the company’s Japan office. Yamaha Motor India, which used to hold a 25% share in the mid-90s, now has less than 3% of the six million-motorcycle market. To recapture the market’s interest, Tsuji promises to provide the Indian market with the best biking technology available. (December 15, 2008)
