Xinjiang starts construction of coal-to-natural gas project

Taking advantage of abundant coal and lake water in the local area, Xinjiang Guanghui Industry Co. Ltd. has began construction of a coal-to-natural gas plant in Fuyun County, Xinjiang. Introducing advanced sulfur recovery technology and using cutting-edge, mature and reliable medium-temperature methane synthesis technology, the project will boast a high rate of energy conversion, thus avoiding significant CO2 emissions. Investment in the project is 25.1 billion yuan (US$3.7 billion). The project will be completed within three and a half years. (May 12, 2010)
