Worker dies at Petron refinery accident

A worker at Petron Corp.s oil refinery in Limay, Bataan, Philippines, was killed and another was left unconscious after exposure to toxic gas, police and company officials said. “One worker was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital due to suffocation,” provincial police Chief Manuel Gaerlan said. Operations were not affected at the 180,000 barrel per day refinery. “It is suspected that both personnel were exposed to hydrogen sulfide gas while draining a collecting drum of the sour water facility,” a Petron statement said.
