With introduction of Euro 2 emission standards, Pakistani carmakers hike vehicle prices

The Pakistani government made Euro 2 emission standards mandatory for all new cars starting on the 1st of July. In line with this, Pakistan’s Indus Motor Company (IMC) announced price increases of its various car models by as much as Rs75,000 (US$794.15). In a similar vein, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) also increased prices of its various models in mid-June. The introduction of catalytic converters in vehicles in order to comply with Euro 2 emission standards, in conjunction with the marked depreciation of the Pakistani rupee, was said to be the primary reasons for the price increases.
