Weichai Power to invest in building green engine base
Weichai Power, a leading diesel engine maker in China, said that it would invest more than 15 billion yuan (US$2.21 billion) to build a green engine base in the coming 10 years. Tan Xuguang, chairman of Weichai Power, said that the company plans to build two engine production bases in Weifang city, in eastern China’s Shandong province in the next five to 10 years. It expects production capacity of 4-15L engines at 1.5 million units in 2015 and 2 million units in 2020. Its engine output is expected to reach 330,000 units in the first half of this year. Weichai Power has made plans to develop key technologies and build a new commercial vehicle and engineering machinery power train technology platform, aiming to increase fuel efficiency by more than 30%, cut emissions by more than 30% and limit cost growth to 30%.
