Vopak to expand Teesside bioethanol terminal

Royal Vopak NV will expand its Teesside terminal at Seal Sands in the U.K. to store and handle bio-ethanol on behalf of Ensus Limited, which is owned by the Carlyle Group and energy-focused Riverstone Holdings. Vopak will build eight new tanks with 40,000 cubic meters in total capacity. Ensus has started construction of a 400-million-liter bioethanol facility in Wilton, Teesside, which is scheduled to enter production in early 2009. The bioethanol produced at that facility will be fed via pipeline to Vopak’s terminal, where it will be stored and redistributed. The company did not disclose financial details. (June 29, 2007)
