Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks have developed new transmission fluids specifically for their automated manual transmissions (AMT)
Volvo’s I-Shift transmission fluid is a fully synthetic lubricant engineered for the I-Shift transmission. Depending on the vehicle and application, the SAE 75W-80 fluid is approved for drain intervals of up to 500,000 miles to help deliver the correct frictional responses, material compatibility and viscosity grade needed for optimized fuel economy and fluid durability for the I-Shift. All of these reduce operating costs, the truck maker said.
The fluid is formulated to offer added thermal durability and oxidation resistance, which helps protect against deposit formation and contributes to long seal life.
The product is the preferred transmission fluid for the I-Shift, which is now standard on all Volvo-powered trucks built for the North American market.
It is available in both five-gallon pails and four one-gallon jugs. For more information, go to www.volvotrucks.com/trucks/na/en-us.
Mack’s Bulldog mDrive transmission fluid SAE 75W-80 is designed for the company’s mDrive AMT. It is a fully synthetic heavy-duty transmission lubricant formulated to provide lubrication, component protection and fuel economy.
The fluid’s high viscosity index helps reduce viscous churn while providing smoother gear meshing and easier pumping and filtering, strong lubricating films at higher temperatures and added low-temperature fluidity for quicker starts, easier shifts and reduced wear during cold start-ups.
It is formulated for added shear stability to enhance viscosity and film strength for better wear protection during severe operation. Its thermal durability and oxidation resistance help protect against deposit formation while contributing to long seal life, extended service intervals and up to 500,000-mile oil drain intervals.
