Volvo to introduce hybrids to Japan in 2014

Volvo Car Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Stefan Jacoby said his company wants to introduce a diesel hybrid and a plug-in hybrid to the Japanese market by 2014. In an interview with the Nikkei, Jacoby said that the vehicles will most likely be mid-sized models or bigger, and will feature an electronic engine control and high fuel efficiency. Although Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. of China now owns Volvo, the Swedish company’s management team continues to operate separately a unit that deals with luxury cars. (March 13, 2012)
