Volkswagen Group to build engine plant in India

German automaker Volkswagen Group plans to build an engine plant in India for its brands, including Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi and Porsche. The plant will most likely be located in Chakan, near Pune. It will be a dedicated facility for production of both petrol and diesel engines, which will also enable enabling the company to cut costs, increase profitability in the Indian market, and improve long-term sales growth potential.
