Vietnam’s petroleum companies against immediate ban of A83
Vietnam’s petroleum companies told Vnexpress, a local newspaper, that the government should not immediately ban the use of A83 gasoline because low-income consumers benefit from the low price of A83. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has submitted proposals to ban the production of A83 because some traders have been mixing A83 with A92 and A95 grades to produce low-quality fuel. Dang Vinh Sang, general director of Saigon Petro, which produces about 30,000 cubic meters of A83 gasoline annually, said that a ban on the production of A83 will affect 100 workers. The company’s production of A83 accounts for 20% of domestic supply. PV Oil, Nam Viet Company and Military Petroleum are some of the companies which also produce A83. (December 9, 2011)
