Vietnam to use low-sulfur diesel fuel

Vietnam’s Trade Ministry has ordered oil product importers to sell only diesel fuel containing a maximum sulfur content of 0.05% for on-road vehicles from July 1. The ministry will still allow industrial users, including marine and railroad, to use diesel fuel containing 0.25% sulfur. All 11 state importers will have to list the sulfur content of diesel fuel at retail stations. Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen said retail prices of the 0.05% sulfur diesel would be VND200 (US$0.01) higher than the lower-sulfur grade. (June 20, 2007)
