Vietnam to build 5 ethanol plants by 2011
Vietnam will put into operation five ethanol production plants with a combined annual capacity of 365,000 tons through 2011, said Phuong Hoang Kim, deputy general director of the Science and Technology Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Of the expected plants, three are under construction, the ministry said, adding that the first is underway in the central province of Quang Nam, the second in the central province of Quang Ngai and the third in the northern province of Phu Tho. The state-run Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) plans to start construction of the fourth plant in the central province of Binh Phuoc late this year. (September 29, 2009)
