Vietnam imports 3.09 million tons of petroleum in Jan-mid April

Vietnam imported 3.09 million metric tons of petroleum products worth US$1.907 billion from January to mid-April, down 19.3% from a year earlier in volume but up 28.3% in value, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said. Of the total, Vietnam spent US$1.08 billion on buying 1.723 million metric tons of diesel oil and US$424.88 million on importing 612,870 metric tons of gasoline. The decline in oil product exports between January and mid-April is attributed to production at Vietnam’s first oil refinery in Dung Quat, which has produced 2.9 million tons of petroleum products.
