Ve Wong to set up ethanol plant

Ve Wong Corporation, one of Taiwans leading food processors, will begin mass production of ethanol in Thailand by the end of 2007 and introduce it to the market in 2008. To facilitate its production of bioethanol, the company will lease a massive area in Cambodia to plant sugarcane. The Thailand ethanol plant is expected to produce an estimated 30,000 metric tons of ethanol per year initially. Products from the plant will be exported to the U.S. and Europe, and might even be sold back to Taiwan. (July 9, 2007)
