Uzbekistan to begin construction of GTL plant
The Uzbekistan GTL joint venture, which is comprised of the Uzbek government, Petronas and Sasol, will begin the construction of a plant to produce synthetic fuels using the gas-to-liquid (GTL) process in the Kashkadarya region of southern Uzbekistan by the second half of 2011. The plant will process 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas and produce 672,000 tons of diesel fuel, 278,000 tons of jet fuel, 361,000 tons of naphtha and 63,000 tons of liquefied gas. The project, which is expected to cost US$2.5 billion, will be completed by 2014. (September 24, 2010)
