Unioil announces three-year network expansion

Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc. plans to spend as much as Php1 billion (US$24.2 million) in the next three years to expand its footprint in Luzon.
“We are building more stations here in Metro Manila…We are looking at (putting up) 10 to 12 stations per year in quality sites,” Unioil General Manager Luisito Medina-Cue Jr. said.
Unioil President Kenneth Pundanera said the company plans to spend between Php250 million (US$6 million) and Php360 million (US$8.7 million) per year to put up new service stations.
To date, the independent oil company has 30 service stations in Metro Manila, Cavite, Pampanga and Laguna, all located in the main island of Luzon, in the Philippines.
Retail sales are expected to grow by 15% this year due to a strong Philippine economy, the company said. Retail sales make up 30% of Unioil’s business; lubricants, asphalt and wholesale fuel sales account for the rest. Unioil expects even stronger growth next year, Pundanera said.
“Of course the outlook for next year for us is still positive because the Philippines is growing. A good Philippine economy should be equivalent to a good demand,” he said.
Recently, Unioil formally launched sales of EuroDiesel IV, which contains lower sulfur content (50 parts per million) than the current Philippine standard of 500 parts per million. The Euro 4 standard will be mandatory in the country by 2016.
