UNICA forecasts slight drop in Brazil’s ethanol output
Industry group UNICA said that Brazil’s key center-south region expects to see a slight drop in ethanol production this harvest season, compared with what was initially expected. Total ethanol production is expected to reach 21.05 billion liters, a 2.03% drop from the earlier estimate. Hydrous ethanol is forecast to be 12.75 billion liters and anhydrous ethanol at 8.30 billion liters. Crushed sugarcane will reach 571.5 million, a 1.87% increase over the initial estimate of 561.1 million tons. Ethanol exports will reach 2.55 billion liters. (September 20, 2012)
