U.S. Patent issued to Idemitsu Kosan for "water-based metalworking fluid"
United States Patent no. 8,338,345 was issued on December 25 to Idemitsu Kosan Co. Ltd. (Tokyo) for “Water-Based Metalworking Fluid,” invented by Hiroshi Kawasaki (Ichihara, Japan) and Fumiaki Takagi (Ichihara, Japan).
According to the abstract released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: “Water-based metalworking fluid contains: (A) alkanolamine represented by the following formula (1) and/or (B) alkanolamine represented by the following formula (2); and (C) 2-pyridylthio-1-oxide salt. In the formula (1): each R1 represents hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; n represents 2 or 3; and plural R1 may be mutually the same or different on condition that not all R1 represent hydrogen. In the formula (2): R2 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and Z1 and Z2 each represent an alkylene group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms.”
