TTA projects better prospects in Q4
The Thai Transportation Association (TTA) has projected that business will pick up in the fourth quarter. President of the TTA Thongyu Kongkan said the transport industry had shown signs of picking up. Thongyu attributed TTA’s positive outlook to the government’s fuel policies, which helped relieve the burden of the transport industry. He admitted however that the measures had not helped reduce costs and that loopholes had allowed for exploitation of transporters to persist. The TTA requested the Thai government to step up its support in converting vehicles to NGV engines. The association said only 3% of all vehicles have been converted to NGV, a more environmentally friendly fuel. (September 1, 2009)
