TRL to build major oil refinery in Pakistan
Trans-Asia Refinery Ltd (TRL) announced that it is committed to building the most complex refinery in Pakistan, with a capacity to process more than 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day and an annual production of 4.0 million tons of petroleum products. The refinery will be located at Port Qasim, Karachi.
TRL’s determination to see the project through to completion was demonstrated by two important initiatives that were announced on August 6. First is the appointment of Descon, the leading engineering and construction company in Pakistan, to undertake a complete “health check” inspection of TRL’s refining equipment. The second is the completion of a restructuring of TRL management.
The company said that a thorough inspection of critical equipment will be performed before the EPC contractor is finalized, considering that the refinery has been delayed for some time.
The TRL project is a direct investment of Al-Ghurair Investment LLC, a UAE-based family conglomerate and one of the most diverse industrial groups in the Middle East.
