Toyota’s global production to rebound to 8 million units
Toyota Motor Corp. expects global production to rebound to 8 million units or more in 2012, surpassing the mark for the first time in four years. Toyota has informed major parts suppliers about the prospect that its global production, excluding the output of its subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd., is likely to be between 8 million and 8.4 million units. The company aims to increase sales in India and other emerging countries, as well as expand its line-up of gasoline-electric hybrids in developed markets such as Japan, the United States and European countries. Toyota has set both its global production and global sales targets for 2011 at 7.7 million units, up slightly from this year. (December 23, 2010)
