Total Philippines to open more retail outlets

Total Philippines Corp., a subsidiary of French company Total S.A., will open 20 additional retail outlets this year. The company already has 167 stations and it currently holds 4.3% market share. Total Philippines President and Managing Director, Ernst Wanten, said “We plan to open 20 stations this year because we want to accelerate our growth to reach a critical mass of stations.” The stations will be located in various parts of the country where there are no retailers who sell cheaper smuggled fuel. Wanten added that their expansion will be spread out so that there will be no price wars. He also said that Total wants to build another 20 stations next year. The company’s goal is to have a critical mass of 300 to 350 stations and a market share of 10%. (August 8, 2011)
