Time limit on regular unleaded

The New South Wales (NSW) parliament has ruled in favor of biofuel. According to laws passed by the NSW government, regular unleaded petrol should be phased out in the Australian state by July 2011 and. unleaded petrol sold after that date must contain 10% ethanol. However, some representatives opposed the parliament’s decision over concerns that increasing ethanol use could lead to scarcity of land used for food production. Supporters of the move argued, meanwhile, that use of biofuel would lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and particulates in the air. (April 2, 2009)
